Chinese Consul General in Johannesburg Pan Qingjiang Attends the Seminar on Governance of China

On 7 August, 2026, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Chinese Consul General in Johannesburg attended the seminar on “Governance of China”. The seminar, themed “Improving National Planning Systems in the Global South: Sharing China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030)”, was co-hosted by the Consulate and China International Communications Group Centre for Europe and Africa. Over 100 participants were present, including Pinky Kekana, deputy minister of public service and administration of South Africa, Bandile Masuku, member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, as well as representatives from politics, academia, media, and university students.

In his speech, Mr. Pan said that at the conference celebrating the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Secretary General Xi Jinping comprehensively elaborated on the secret behind the CPC’s success. Formulating and implementing medium- and long-term development plans constitutes one concrete embodiment of this success formula. China stands ready to further deepen cooperation with Africa, share the opportunities and outcomes of Chinese modernization, strengthen exchanges on governance experience, and contribute to the modernization process of Global South countries.

The participants engaged in in-depth discussions and vibrant interactions, and agreed that China’s 15th Five-Year Plan offers useful reference and cooperation opportunities for the Global South in its pursuit of modernization.The fifth volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China"on display at the event proved highly popular.
